Welcome to the WellSoul Podcast, where we pause to drink in scripture, reflect, and pray. I am your host, Seana Scott, and sometimes life leaves our souls feeling parched. So come to the well of living water that never runs dry.

We continue our meditation series through the book of Ephesians. Today's passage begins a section on the unity in the church, the body of Christ. We will focus on the first six verses and continue the passage next week. But you can read these verses in context in the show notes. In today's verses, Paul writes from prison and encourages his readers to live the Christian life, not just say they believe.

Before I read, take a deep breath, quiet your mind, and focus your whole being on the words of scripture.

Ephesians 4, 1 to 6. As a prisoner for the Lord then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle. Be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who was over all and through all and in all.

What did the Holy Spirit highlight for you? Focus your thoughts on this for a moment.

I'm going to re-read these verses. Listen for what the Spirit highlights for you.

Ephesians 4, 1-6 As a prisoner for the Lord then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle, Be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called, one Lord, one faith, one baptism. One God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

Now take a moment to sit with the words that you noticed.

We are urged by Paul to live a life worthy of the calling we have received. That we all have received the same grace from Jesus. And that God is in each of us by faith through his Holy Spirit. Paul also encourages us to keep unity with other believers. So, how are we living this out? How are we keeping the unity of the faith even among our differences? Take a moment to pray about this or anything else on your heart.

Let's pray. Father, thank you for your Son, Jesus, who gives us access to you by faith. And thank you for your Holy Spirit. Lord, please help us to live lives worthy of the calling of Jesus Christ. And Lord God, by the power of your spirit, please help us to reach for unity among believers rather than pointing fingers and disunity. For we all come to you the same way through grace in Jesus Christ. Lord, help us to live well, humbly, and in gentleness. In Jesus's name we pray. Amen.
