Welcome to the WellSoul Podcast, where we pause to drink in Scripture, reflect, and pray. I am your host Seana Scott, and sometimes life leaves our souls feeling parched. So come to the well of living water that never runs dry. 

Today is the Monday after the American holiday Mother's Day, when we celebrate the mothers who have raised us up in our youth. And today as we meditate on scripture, let's think about the women that helped raise us up, but also the ways in which we can raise up others, whether in our home or in the local body of Christ. 

Children are a blessing from the Lord. 

Before I read, take a deep breath and quiet your mind and focus your whole being on the words of Scripture. 

Psalm 127 English Standard Version Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stands awake in vain. It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil, for he gives to his beloved sleep. Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them. He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate. 

What did the Holy Spirit highlight for you? Focus your thoughts on this for a moment.

 Now I'm going to re-read verses 1 and 2. What do you notice?

 Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stands awake in vain. It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil, for he gives to his beloved sleep. 

Now take a moment to sit with the words that you notice. 

Unless the Lord builds, we build in vain. What are you trying to build in your life in this season? Maybe you have children at home that you're trying to build up in the Lord, or maybe it is building up in another way for the glory of God. 

Take some time to pray about seeking the Lord to build up instead of depending on your own strength and wisdom. or pray about anything else the Spirit brings to mind.
